Two Parts: Classroom and Behind the Wheel
Driver's ed has two parts: classroom instruction and one-on-one lessons behind the wheel with a certified instructor. Every package includes unlimited classroom hours, with a 10-hour minimum, and at least 6 hours behind the wheel.
What Every Package Teaches
The classroom covers traffic law, signs, right of way and defensive driving. Across the course you learn these topics.
- Traffic laws and road signs
- Controlling speed and braking safely
- Changing lanes and merging
- Intersections, turns and roundabouts
- Defensive driving and hazard awareness
- Driving in different weather
- Parallel and reverse parking
- Emergency maneuvers and road safety
How Lessons in the Car Work
Each lesson is one student and one certified instructor, in a car with an instructor brake. First lessons start on quiet streets and move to busier roads only when the student is ready.
Classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction are offered in English and Spanish.
Practice at Home for Teens
Oklahoma requires teens to log 50 hours of supervised driving, 10 of them at night, with a parent or guardian. Lessons with an instructor come on top of those hours.
This rule is set by Service Oklahoma and can change, so confirm it before you go.
The Road Test
The official road test is included in every package from Basic Driver's Education + State Road Test upward. We give the test ourselves, and when you pass you go straight to a Tag Agency for the license.
