Basic Driver's Education

This is the training-only package. You get the classroom course and 6 hours behind the wheel with an instructor, and that is where it stops. The official road test is not part of it.

That makes it a fit for a few kinds of students. One is the teen who got a permit recently and cannot test for months yet, since Oklahoma makes drivers under 18 hold a learner permit for at least 180 days. Another is the student who plans to test at a Service Oklahoma station or at a different school. A third is the family that wants to see how training goes before deciding where to test.

It is a poor fit if you want one school to take you from the first class to a passing result with nothing else to book.

You have up to 2 months to finish. Six hours of driving across that time averages out to less than one hour a week, so the pace is gentle if you start early.

The classroom side has a 10-hour minimum. Classes meet every weekend at the Warr Acres office, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, so a single weekend covers the minimum. Classroom hours are unlimited, which means you can sit in again on a topic that did not stick.

Driving lessons are booked by appointment, with morning, evening and weekend times. The risk with a 2-month limit is leaving the driving until the final weeks, when the times you want may already be taken.

Because the package ends with training, several steps stay with you:

• The road test, booked with us as a separate service or taken somewhere else
• Any practice drive with an instructor before that test
• Your ride to the office, since pickup is not included
• For teens, the 50 hours of supervised driving with a parent that Oklahoma requires, 10 of them at night

The two Basic packages share the same classroom course, the same 6 driving hours and the same 2-month limit. The only difference is whether the official Oklahoma road test is included.

Pick this one if you are sure your test will happen later or elsewhere. Pick the other if you expect to test here soon after training, because the test is then already part of what you bought.

If you choose Basic and change your mind, nothing is lost. You can still book a road test at our office by itself. The examiner is Julius Ndifor Moma, a State of Oklahoma Designated Examiner, and a pass with him is taken to a Tag Agency or Service Oklahoma just like any other.
