Driving Lessons for Edmond Students

We teach students from Edmond Memorial, Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe, as well as students at the University of Central Oklahoma, including international students who need an Oklahoma license.

Edmond lessons focus on what makes driving there demanding: heavy traffic on Broadway and 2nd Street, the busy intersections along 15th and 33rd, and merging onto I-35 and the Kilpatrick Turnpike.

Edmond Local Guide

Getting to Our Office From Edmond

Start in downtown Edmond and go south on Broadway, which is US 77. South of town it becomes the Broadway Extension. One common way is to take the John Kilpatrick Turnpike west, then Lake Hefner Parkway south to NW 63rd Street, and follow the Northwest Expressway to NW 72nd Street in Warr Acres. The turnpike charges a toll. To skip it, stay on the Broadway Extension to NW 63rd Street and drive west.

Either way is about 14 to 16 miles from downtown and takes about 25 to 30 minutes. Edmond is outside the 10-mile free pickup range that comes with the Deluxe package and the Adult and International package, so Edmond families call the office to arrange pickup.

Service Oklahoma and Tag Agencies in Edmond

Once you pass the road test at our office, the state still has to issue the license. You bring your approved result to a Service Oklahoma office or a Tag Agency, and Edmond has both.

Roads Edmond Drivers Use Every Day

Most Edmond traffic moves on wide arterials, with an interstate on the east side of the city.

  • Broadway (US 77): a multi-lane arterial through the middle of the city. Its many driveways and signals make you pick a lane early and scan well ahead.
  • 2nd Street (Historic Route 66, State Highway 66): the main east and west street. It leads east to the Interstate 35 interchange, where a new driver has to merge at highway speed.
  • 15th Street and Danforth Road: arterials with high schools on them. Expect heavy traffic and other teen drivers at the start and end of the school day.
  • Santa Fe Avenue, Kelly Avenue and Bryant Avenue: north and south arterials used for trips across town. Left turns at busy signals are the skill to work on.
  • John Kilpatrick Turnpike: the toll road just south of Edmond, reached from the Broadway Extension. It calls for good ramp speed and clean merging.

Edmond's Place in the Metro

Edmond is in Oklahoma County, on the north side of the Oklahoma City metro. The 2020 census counted 94,428 residents, which makes it the fifth largest city in the state. Our office is to the southwest, in Warr Acres, so the trip from Edmond always crosses part of north Oklahoma City.
