Driving Lessons for Mustang Students

We teach students from Mustang High School and adults from across the Mustang and southwest Oklahoma City area.

For Mustang students we practise on State Highway 152 and Mustang Road, in the school and shopping traffic along SW 59th, and on I-40 and the Kilpatrick Turnpike extension, so highway driving is not a surprise on test day.

Getting to Our Office From Mustang

Our only office is at 5601 NW 72nd Street, Suite 124, in Warr Acres, just off Northwest Expressway. We do not have an office in Mustang.

From the middle of Mustang, most drivers head north on Mustang Road to SW 15th Street and get on the John Kilpatrick Turnpike. You follow the turnpike north past I-40, exit at Wilshire Boulevard, and go east to Northwest Expressway. The drive is about 17 miles and takes about 25 to 30 minutes in normal traffic.

The Kilpatrick is a toll road with no cash booths. Tolls are charged by PIKEPASS or by a photo of your plate, called PlatePay.

Mustang is outside our 10-mile free pickup range. If you choose the Deluxe package or the Adult and International package and live in Mustang, call us and we will work out pickup for your address.

Tag Agencies Near Mustang

ProDrive Academy gives the official road test. After you pass, you take the approved result to a Tag Agency or a Service Oklahoma office, and the state issues your license there. These two are close to Mustang:

  • Mustang Tag Agency, 120 East Trade Center Terrace, Mustang, OK 73064
  • Yukon Tag Agency, 103 E. Vandament Avenue, Yukon, OK 73099

Mustang High School and Mustang Public Schools

Mustang has one public high school. Mustang High School is at 801 South Snyder Drive and is part of Mustang Public Schools. The district covers the City of Mustang and the parts of Oklahoma City right around it, so many students with an Oklahoma City address still go to school here.

The high school serves grades 9 through 12 and has about 3,700 students. That is a lot of new drivers sharing the same streets before and after class.

There is no college or university campus inside Mustang. The high school lists concurrent enrollment with Redlands Community College, Oklahoma City Community College and OSU-OKC, which are all in other cities.

Roads Mustang Drivers Use Every Day

These are the roads a new driver in Mustang will need to handle sooner or later.

  • State Highway 152: the main east and west highway through town. East of Mustang it turns into a four-lane expressway and then a freeway, so speeds climb as you leave the city.
  • Mustang Road and Sara Road: two main north and south roads. State Highway 4 shares the pavement with Highway 152 for about a mile between them, so you will see two route numbers on the same signs.
  • John Kilpatrick Turnpike: the toll road on the east side of the area, with ramps at SW 15th Street, at SW 29th Street and Sara Road, and at Morgan Road. It is where you practice merging at highway speed.
  • The I-40 interchange on the Kilpatrick: a full highway interchange where you must read signs early and pick your lane before the ramp.
  • Snyder Drive by the high school: slow down and watch for students and buses at the start and end of the school day.

Where Mustang Sits in the Metro

Mustang is in the southeastern corner of Canadian County and is part of the Oklahoma City metro area. The 2020 census counted 19,879 people here.

Yukon is the next city to the north, and Oklahoma City surrounds much of Mustang. A short trip can take you from a quiet neighborhood street to a turnpike ramp. Learning both kinds of driving matters if you live here.

Tag Agency and office details change. Confirm the address, hours and driver license services on the Service Oklahoma locations page before you go.
