Getting to Our Office From Norman

Our only office is at 5601 NW 72nd Street, Suite 124, in Warr Acres, just off Northwest Expressway. From central Norman the drive is about 30 miles and takes about 40 minutes when traffic is moving.

Most Norman drivers start on I-35 north. You pass through Moore, then take I-240 west across south Oklahoma City. I-240 runs into I-44, which carries you north. From there you follow Lake Hefner Parkway for a short stretch and exit onto Northwest Expressway heading west. NW 72nd Street is a short turn off the expressway.

Norman is outside our 10-mile pickup range. Free pickup comes only with the Deluxe package and the Adult and International package, and only within 10 miles of the office. If you live in Norman, call us and we will work out the arrangements with you.

Tag Agencies and the Service Oklahoma Office in Norman

After you pass the road test with us, you take your approved result to a Tag Agency or a Service Oklahoma office, and that is where the state issues your license. You do not need to come back to Warr Acres for that step. Norman has these options:

  • Fuson Tag Agency, 1236 N. Interstate Drive, Norman, OK 73072
  • Service Oklahoma Norman Licensing and Exam office, 718 N. Porter, Norman, OK

High Schools and Colleges in Norman

Norman Public Schools runs the two large public high schools in town. Norman High School is at 911 W. Main Street. Norman North High School is at 1809 Stubbeman Avenue. Parts of the wider city limits fall in other districts, including Noble, Little Axe and Moore.

Norman is also home to the main campus of the University of Oklahoma. Moore Norman Technology Center has its Franklin Road Campus at 4701 12th Avenue NW. If you are a teen at one of the high schools or an adult studying in Norman, you can train with us.

Roads Norman Drivers Use Every Day

Driving in Norman means switching between a fast interstate, wide arterials and slow streets near schools and campus. These are the ones you will meet most often:

  • I-35: the interstate on the west side of town. Norman exits include State Highway 9 East, Lindsey Street, Main Street, Robinson Street, Tecumseh Road and Indian Hills Road. The exits come close together, so you need to pick your lane early.
  • Main Street and Gray Street: the two main streets through downtown, with parked cars, crosswalks and frequent signals.
  • Lindsey Street: an east and west street that links I-35 to the university area. Expect people on foot and on bikes.
  • 12th Avenue SE and 24th Avenue NW: north and south arterials lined with driveways and turn lanes. They are good practice for lane changes and left turns.
  • State Highway 9: the highway that leaves I-35 at the south end of Norman and heads east toward Tecumseh. Speeds are higher here than on city streets.
  • School zones: the streets around Norman High on Main Street and Norman North on Stubbeman Avenue slow down at the start and end of the school day.

Norman and the Oklahoma City Metro

Norman is the county seat of Cleveland County and sits about 20 miles south of downtown Oklahoma City. It had 128,026 residents in the 2020 census. Because it is at the south end of the metro and our office is on the northwest side, plan your trip around the morning and evening rush on I-35 and I-44.

Tag Agency and office details change. Confirm the address, hours and driver license services on the Service Oklahoma locations page before you go.
