Driver's Ed and Driving Lessons for Piedmont, Oklahoma

Piedmont families do not have to drive across the metro for driver's ed. ProDrive Academy is about 20 minutes south, straight down Piedmont Road and Northwest Expressway, and we pick students up.

Driving Lessons for Piedmont Students

We teach students from Piedmont High School and adults from the growing neighborhoods along Piedmont Road and the Northwest Expressway corridor.

Piedmont drivers face a mix that city-only lessons miss: two-lane country roads, uncontrolled rural intersections, and then fast, busy traffic the moment they head toward Oklahoma City. Our lessons cover both, so a new driver is ready for the whole commute.

Piedmont Local Guide

Getting to Our Office From Piedmont

From the middle of Piedmont, most drivers head south on Piedmont Road, which is State Highway 4. After about three miles it meets the Northwest Expressway, which is State Highway 3. Turn southeast there and stay on the Northwest Expressway for about eight and a half miles into Warr Acres. Our office is at 5601 NW 72nd Street, Suite 124, just off the expressway.

The drive is about 11 to 12 miles and takes about 20 minutes in normal traffic. That puts central Piedmont a little past the 10-mile range for free pickup, which is included with the Deluxe package and the Adult and International package. If you live in Piedmont and want pickup, call the office to arrange it.

Tag Agencies Near Piedmont

You take the road test with us. After you pass, you carry the approved result to a Tag Agency or a Service Oklahoma office, and that is where the state issues your license. These are the closest ones for most Piedmont families.

Piedmont High School and Piedmont Public Schools

Piedmont has one public high school. Piedmont High School is at 1055 Edmond Road NW, and its teams are the Wildcats. It belongs to Piedmont Public Schools, which keeps its district office close by at 615 Edmond Road NW.

The same district runs the Middle School of Piedmont, two intermediate schools, three elementary schools and an early childhood center.

Roads Piedmont Drivers Use Every Day

Piedmont has only a few main roads, and you will use all of them.

  • Piedmont Road (State Highway 4): the main north and south road through town. The state highway ends at Edmond Road. It is a good place to practice holding a steady speed and slowing down in time as you come into town.
  • Edmond Road NW: the east and west street through the center of town. City Hall, the school district office and the high school all sit on it, so expect buses, student drivers and people on foot before and after school.
  • Northwest Expressway (State Highway 3): the divided highway that links Piedmont to Oklahoma City. Speeds are higher here, and a new driver has to change lanes, keep a safe gap and watch for cars turning across traffic.
  • Piedmont Road at the Northwest Expressway: the highway junction most residents pass through on the way to the city. Judging the speed of cross traffic is the skill to build here.

Where Piedmont Sits in the Metro

Piedmont is in the northeast corner of Canadian County, and part of the city reaches into Kingfisher County. The center of town is about 22 miles northwest of the center of Oklahoma City and roughly 10 miles north of Yukon. The 2020 census counted 7,402 residents. The city covers about 44 square miles, so how far you are from our office depends on which side of Piedmont you live on.
